Hello, I work in the Archive of the Polish Institute for National Remembrance (IPN). I am looking for information on the British Consulate in Gdańsk in 1948. What was the address of the consulate then? Was it located in the Oliwa section of the city or elsewhere? And do you have any records of marriages of British citizens that took place there? I am in particular looking for the marriage of Capt. John Henry Ruck-Keene (naval attaché to the British Embassy at the time) and Patricia Fasson, nee Gibbons. The wedding took place 27.09.1948, probably at Oliwa Cathedral and presumably conducted by someone from the consulate. They apparently needed a Polish civil ceremony as well; that may have taken place in Warsaw. Does the Consulate maintain an archive? Where would the historical records from that period be found? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
